Infrastructure and Operations

Operations manage all office technology, classroom technology, and computer labs. This department includes our Help Center located in Knott Hall 003. Our Employee Technology Training Center is located in Knott Hall 002.

Infrastructure designs, provides, and maintains computing and communications infrastructure for Loyola. The Infrastructure group supports these systems and services 24/7 x 365. The broad range of services includes, but is not limited to:

  • A reliable, high-speed network that provides communications for thousands of devices, both wired and wireless across all campuses.
  • A flexible, scalable, and reliable server-based computing environment, including data backup, data center operations, and disaster recovery planning.
  • An extensive security program intended to provide appropriate access to critical data, prevent and remediate intrusions, and communicate to the community best practices related to computing security.

Enterprise Applications

Enterprise Applications staff members serve as liaisons between the business units and Technology Services. Enterprise Applications was organized as a federated matrix. The primary responsibilities of the unit are to provide implementation services, enterprise application operational and technical support, web and portal technical support, guidance finding the best solutions, business unit relationship, management support, data reporting services and support, training, and enterprise application expertise to the University community. Enterprise Applications supports Ellucian Colleague, Ellucian delivered products for portal, reporting, and admissions; custom integration with third-party applications and tools; and technical support and development for the external website and Ellucian portal technologies.

Enterprise Applications is led by Helen Aberle ext. 1385.

Project Management Office (PMO)

The Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for managing Loyola's Technology Project Portfolio. The vision for Loyola's IT Project Portfolio is that projects undertaken at Loyola will be the right ones for best supporting University goals, will be successful, and effectively managed, and that the people involved are set up for success. To accomplish this, the project portfolio must be managed with care. The PMO is led by Jessica Smith, ext. 2199.

Security Advisory & Compliance

Security Advisory and Compliance’s mission is to support Loyola’s global mission through the implementation of a cyber-secure computing environment. This means protecting Loyola’s information assets and citizens’ personal data from cyber-related risks using industry-standard security programs, practices, and policies.
