Microsoft Windows Updates

When Windows Updates are released, they are made available for you to install on your device. The deployment deadline for updates is 7 days and reminders that updates are required is given according to the following schedule:

If the deployment deadline is greater than 24 hours, then a reminder is presented every 48 hours. If the deployment deadline is less than 24 hours, a reminder is presented every 4 hours. If the deployment deadline is less than 1 hour, a reminder is presented every 15 minutes. 

The reminder looks like this:

If you click on the reminder, you will see something like this:

In this dialogue box, you can choose to install the updates right now, schedule the updates to be installed outside of business hours, or snooze and get a reminder later.

If you do not install the updates before the 7-day installation deadline is reached, the updates will be automatically installed. Once this occurs, you will be presented with this notification:

This notification will appear for 48 hours every 4 hours.  For the last 4 hours, snooze is not available, and the notification cannot be minimized or closed.  It looks like this:

If you do nothing, your computer will be restarted at this point. This would occur exactly 9 days from when the updates were made available.
