The Differences between Basic and Pro Accounts

Summary

Zoom Meetings offers two types of licenses, Basic and Licensed. Basic accounts have a time limit of 40 minutes when 3 or more users are participating in a Zoom meeting. Licensed accounts allow unlimited meeting time.

Currently, any faculty, staff, or administrator that logs into Zoom through the Loyola domain, loyola.zoom.us, will be automatically assigned a Licensed account. Students are assigned Basic accounts at log-in. Faculty, staff, or administrators can request to upgrade a student's account based on work that they will be doing in their course, or for employment on campus. To request a student account be upgraded to Licensed please do the following:

  1. Enter a ticket into our service management system.
  2. In the ticket please include the student's first name, last name, and Loyola email address.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Zoom has lifted all restrictions on Basic accounts.
